On December 29th, the last Sunday of 2019, God gave me a word that we were about to enter into a decade of greater, double portion. Then in March COVID–19 showed up and with no end in sight to this pandemic, people are crying the world is coming to an end. Many have stopped making life plans because of the fear that has taken over their mind. Yet God had me prophesy on the last Sunday of 2019 that we would step in a decade of greater. Along with the word that we are stepping into a decade of greater, He has also said that we are in a great harvest season.
38 But he was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” 39 And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, “Peace! Be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40 He said to them, “Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?” 41 And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?” − Mark 4:35-42 (ESV)
Unfortunately, along with the COVID–19 plague is another plague of doomsday prophets, saying that the coronavirus is a sign we’re at the end of days. Anyone can see that we are living in perilous times. Rumors of war, terrorism, economic turmoil, political revolution, disease, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. This is why it is so easy for the agenda of fear and unrest to make its home in the heart of so many.
God has taught me to stand on His word and the Rhema word that He gives me, so I haven’t lost my faith. I am confident in what God spoke to me, but I would be lying if I said I haven’t asked, “What’s up God?” I stood before Your people and declared a word of breakthrough, yet here we are in the middle of a pandemic. While I haven't lacked during this season, in fact, I’ve seen an increase in several areas, but so many people are experiencing drought in their finances, discord in their homes, and more. There seems to be an agenda of fear and darkness across the earth, especially here in the United States.”
Does God answer me? No, not directly, but God continues to encourage men and directing me to encourage others. Are we living in the last days of planet earth? According to the Bible, the answer is yes. Hebrews 1:1-2 tells us: “God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds.” The apostle Peter said, “Christ was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you (1 Peter 1:20).
So I, too, believe that we are in the last days, but not because of the state of the world or COVID-19, but because Scripture says the “last days” began when Jesus Christ, the Messiah, came into the world. Jesus said in Matthew 24:36, “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” Life, as we knew it before Coronavirus, may never be the same, but I believe before Jesus returns He wants us to live and occupy until He comes (Luke 19:13).
This morning God reminded me of the story in Mark chapter 4 which records the story of Jesus calming the storm. Have you noticed that God will speak to you and tell you something and it encourages, but He doesn’t tell you the in-between, or the challenges that will be there when you follow through? He told the disciples, “Let us go across to the other side,” but He never told them about the storm that was coming once they got out there on the water. No, He didn't tell them that part. Certainly, He knew, but He was settled on what He spoke, knowing that nothing, not even a storm could stop what He had declared. Jesus had already prophesied (declared) we're crossing over.
Understand, this was an established, finished word that Jesus spoke! Once He spoke it, it was a done deal. However, as they were crossing over, a terrible storm arises and Jesus is asleep. For the sake of this message, we could say the COVID-19 storm pops up. Jesus must have been sleeping really hard, or He just lay there waiting on the disciples’ faith to kick in, because in all the commotion that the disciples were making He didn’t move until they called out master don't you care, we’re perishing.
I believe the reason God rarely tells us the in-between is, so we won’t get fearful and not move forward. God reminded me this morning that what He had me prophesy at the beginning of 2020 still stands. Jesus through me prophesy (declare) that we were moving into a decade of greater. Although circumstances have fed into the enemy’s fear agenda, you are still winning. You are going to the other side. What was the word God spoke to you before COVID-19? That word was true before the storm, and it is still true now.
If you listen to my message, you will see that it was not a message of doom and disaster. God declared that 2020 is a year of breakthrough. We were moving into a new era, a decade of double portion, greater anointing, greater blessings, and greater harvest. These promises didn't suddenly get canceled because of a storm of COVID-19.
What the enemy is attempting to do is make focus on the storm. He wants you to panic and give up your blessing, your breakthrough, and your destiny. He wants you to believe what is going on in the earth will destroy us. Let me emphatically say it will not! COVID-19 has not stopped God’s plan. Our destination is sure, our orders are established. What is happening is we are being catapulted to the other side. The Glory of the Lord is filling the earth to empower His Ambassadors to carry the Gospel with a greater force and intensity. Yes, Jesus is coming, but we have much work to do before he comes. Our responsibility as His Army is to occupy until He comes.
As in the days of Acts, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is being preached and the Word of God is cutting asunder the religious strongholds that have stifled and held people in bondage are being broken. Even though the storm may seem to intensify the people of God are experiencing breakthrough like never before in every area because they are learning the Truth of Jesus Christ and who they are in Him! The lost are coming to Christ in record numbers.
Isaiah 60:2 encourages, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising..” This Scripture assures that when gross darkness hits the earth, (as it is now) the glory of God will shine on us and through us.
Let the people of God speak up and out, and declare, “Let there be breakthrough: deliverance, healing, peace, joy, revival and light in the darkness.” Can you hear Jesus saying that this situation is not impossible to Him and you need to relax in Him. It doesn't matter what things look like now, or how the year 2020 started out—as things look the opposite of what the prophets of God prophesied. God said it’s not over! Continue to anticipate your breakthrough in faith. For His promises for you are and will be “yes and amen” before the year is out.
Finally, look at what God says in 2nd Chronicles 20:20, “And they rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. And when they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will succeed.”
When I read this passage in context, it is actually sort of like a picture of this year. Jehoshaphat the King finds himself surrounded by the Moabites, and the Ammonites, and the armies are so much greater than him. Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem and prayed (2 Chronicles 20:6-12).
And the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel, and he said, “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the battle is not yours but God's… You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf… The people rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa.
Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be established; believe his prophets, and you will succeed.” He then appointed those who were to sing to the Lord and praise him in holy attire, as they went before the army, singing “Give thanks to the Lord, for His steadfast love endures forever.” And when they began to sing and praise God, the Lord set an ambush against the men who had come to destroy them, and they turned on each and destroy one another.
Psalm 22:3 says, “God inhabits (ya shav’: dwells in; sits enthroned upon) the praises of His people.” In Psalm 111, we read, “Hallelujah. I will praise the Lord. I will praise with my whole heart in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation. And notice that the Psalmist is saying: “I will praise the Lord.”
I know it’s hard to praise God when life is hard, but God wants you to rejoice in Him in the midst of what’s going on. Praising and worshipping God right now will actually do more to help your situation than anything else. Don’t sit around in the cloud of doom and gloom. Praise God in the storm and watch your life make a total turnaround. God will protect those who praise Him.
“4 I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. 5 Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them. − Psalm 34:4-7 (ESV)
This is what the Lord has shown me. He said it! And it is so! I believe it and I will continue to shout it until it gets in the people's spirit I come in contact with!
