Have you been praying about a situation in your life and waiting for a breakthrough? Maybe you feel as though victory is passing you by. God is sovereign. Only He can see the big picture. I don’t know anyone who likes to wait. I certainly didn’t. I had to learn to wait and trust God. ![]() When we ask God for something, we must expect Him to answer because when we waver or doubt, we are like a wave of the sea tossed by the wind. People like that should not expect to receive anything from God (James 1:6-7) The same God who saved you hear your cry and answer your prayers. He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? (Romans 8:32) When we are waiting on God to answer our prayers, we must believe He will answer. We must believe that. 2 Peter 3:8 tells us, “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” From our human thinking, it may seem as if we are waiting a long time for God to answer. However, to God, it is only a breath. His ways are not our ways. His timing is not our timing, and He has planned everything to work out perfectly on our behalf. Sometimes God uses the waiting period as a time of preparing us for the answer. If He answered right away, we may be ill-prepared to handle it. God also allows us to wait and experience disappointments in life, to teach us that nothing and no one else will truly satisfy or provide us with a firm foundation to stand upon. Many times the answer is not how or what we expected. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” God has promised His children a hopeful future. We can rest in God’s faithfulness. He will answer. Waiting humbles us. We must put our own selfish ambitions aside and put God first. When we lay our requests before Him, we must trust His wisdom, not in our own understanding. While we are waiting on God to answer our prayer, counting our blessings, looking at what God has already done will encourage us and build our faith. Waiting for the blessings of God in our life can sometimes be frustrating, but it’s up to you how you respond to the frustration. We should wait with expectancy. Based on God’s promises in His Word, I encourage you to wait well.
