In Harm's Way

As I was thanking God this morning, I began to think about my son, who is home from the war in Afghanistan.  He was telling my daughter stories of what happened over there. He told her of a chilling story that I have not heard and don't want to hear about how he was almost blown up. My God! Both my sons are in the military. I can't begin to tell you how hard it is to have your sons overseas in harm’s way like that.

As I think of it, I liken it to a mother whose child is in a gang or lost in drugs, whether using or selling. My sons are fighting for good and freedom, but those mothers' children are doing things in the name of service to harm others. I can only imagine what that mother endures in her heart and mind.


Can we all be conscious of this and lift up these parents and their children before God and lift up our men and women in the military and their families? It doesn’t matter if you know them personally.


God said, "We have not because we ask not." So many of our babies are dying without knowing joy or a relationship with their loving Father, doomed to eternity separated from His grace. Let’s collectively ask God to save the children and the parents of anyone we know who is out there without a relationship with Him. If He admonishes us to ask, that means that He will answer. Call them by name and ask God to lead them into His bosom.


As you pray and continue to thank God for bringing them into a relationship with Him, God will begin to lead them and  you will be amazed at the change you will begin to see in them. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. God will save our babies if we ask Him. I know you can see that time is winding up.


I am reminded of the scripture "Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these THINGS will be added unto you." When I read this from this scripture, I can clearly see that God is saying it is not about us! It’s about His Kingdom. A kingdom is made up of a king and his subjects. God sent his Son to bring mankind back into a relationship with Him. He was restoring the kingdom that He started in Eden.


According to God’s unfailing word, as we focus on His kingdom and bringing mankind back into relationship with Him, God will first honor our request and secondly take care of our every need and desire beyond anything that we can imagine. I am not saying this as a reason to do so, because it should be done because we love people.


If we are Christ's, we have His mind and heart. WE HAVE HIS LOVE INSIDE OF US RIGHT NOW. Maybe we have not tapped into it because we don’t know it. But it is there. Ask God to show you how to share His love today, and when He does, just do it. Don’t think about it; just do it. You will be amazed.


As you see these young people on the street corners, don’t look at them in disgust or talk about them. Pray right then and there for them. It just takes a minute. Pray and thank God for bringing into a relationship with Him. You will be amazed at what your love for them will do. When you get to heaven and you see the souls that you asked God for, you will be amazed!


I want to close by reminding you that yes, you are saved from hell, but that is not why Christ came. Christ came to bring you back into relationship with God. Not going to Hell is only an added benefit. When Christ said, “I am come that you might have life.” He was not talking about life that we see with our eyes or material things. He was talking about life because before Him, because of sin, you were a dead man walking. Those who are without Christ now are dead men walking. Christ’s goal and mission have not changed. He is just doing it now through you. Let Him!
