The Lord’s Supper is far more than a religious tradition. It is a powerful reminder of everything Jesus accomplished for us at Calvary. Are you facing a health challenge today? Are you battling a chronic condition or standing in faith for healing? When you receive the cup, which represents His blood, you are remembering that the blood of Jesus redeemed you and delivered you from sin. His blood restored your relationship with the Father and established a new covenant of grace.
When you receive the bread, which represents His body, you are acknowledging the suffering Jesus endured so that you could be set free from the curse. He bore the torment of the Cross so that we could be delivered from temptation, addiction, fear, worry, lack, and every form of bondage. That includes sickness and disease. The prophet Isaiah declared: “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.” — Isaiah 53:5 When you come to the Lord’s table, you should come expecting to receive everything His sacrifice provided. Through Christ we have salvation, peace with God, healing for our bodies, and provision for our lives. If we approach communion without recognizing what His sacrifice accomplished, we are overlooking the very gifts He gave His life to provide. Are you facing a health challenge today? Are you battling a chronic condition or standing in faith for healing? You may already be speaking God’s Word and declaring His promises over your body. But one powerful provision that many believers overlook is the practice of taking communion in faith. Every time we take communion, we are reminding our hearts of the covenant we have with God through the body and blood of Jesus. It strengthens our faith and anchors us again in the finished work of Christ. We do not take communion casually. We receive it with faith and with purpose. Whatever circumstance you may be facing today, God has already made a way through the sacrifice of His Son. As you receive communion, you can also speak the Word of God over your life. You might pray something like this: Take the bread and make this confession, then eat: Lord Jesus, as I take this bread, I thank You for the sacrifice of Your body. I thank You that in Your body You bore my sins, my sicknesses, my pains, and every affliction, both physical and emotional. You carried it all to the cross. Your Word declares that by Your stripes I am healed, and I receive that healing now.
Take of the cup and make this confession:
Father God, show Your glory in Me. Show Your glory in my family. Show Your glory in my pastors and in my church family. Father, show me Your glory. In Jesus' name, I ask. Amen. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
