Some people don’t want to be healed or happy. They love to have pity parties because they love the attention they bring. I had someone call me for prayer one day. I began to pray and while I was praying, this person was talking to people in the background, not even listening to me pray so that they could agree with me or hear what I was praying for. Holy Spirit said stop they don't want to be healed. Then I understood why Jesus asked the lame man at the pool of Bethesda, "Do you want to be made whole?" (John 5: 5-9). We know that Jesus could see through to the heart, so when Jesus approached the man and asked if he wanted to be made whole it was a legitimate question. Just because someone has a sickness (in any area of life) doesn’t mean they are automatically really ready to be free. You've heard the saying, “misery loves company.” Sometimes there's a comfortable misery in repetitive failure. The familiarity of the known is more comfortable than the uncertainty of the unknown. In the book “I Don't Believe In Fairytales” I discuss the spirit of sabotage.
The dictionary defines sabotage as to deliberately destroy, damage, or obstruct (something), especially for political or military advantage. Sabotage is the devil’s primary goal against the things of God. He is the master of sabotage, with a particular mission to get you off course with God. Sabotage and unholy strongholds have the same goal. Both evils work to block people from experiencing the things of God. Some people have held on to anger, resentment, and the “victim” mentality so long until it has become their identity, not realizing they are blocking the blessings that belong to them. When we hold on to past hurt, we can actually sabotage our own success. The Lord can do nothing for the person who is not willing to be helped. Sabotage and unholy strongholds have the same goal, to block people from experiencing the things of God. There are times when we struggle to break out of hardship and unpleasant situations, looking for help in the wrong direction. We look for help from friends and families, but because families and friends need help themselves, they are unable to help. When we don't get our desired result, we become discouraged and give in thinking it is our fate without making an effort or trying harder. Wholeness hinges on your decision. Jesus says in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” In Revelations 22:17 He says, “And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” He offers the chance for a better future in this life and in eternity (Matthew 19:29). Will you take advantage of it? Is there anything that you are holding onto that is blocking your blessings? Will you be the head and not the tail? Will you be above and not beneath? Will you have your household saved? Will you be what I have said in My Word that you can be? In the book “Put The Word In Your Mouth”, I candidly share how God taught me the importance of agreeing with Him and speaking what He speaks. Are you facing circumstances that seem impossible? Do you need healing in your body, a financial breakthrough or a fresh touch from God? Are you blocking your blessings? God’s plan for your life is good, not evil!
