“Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.” − Psalm 68:1-2
When you read the above passage, what comes to your mind? Many when reading this scripture read it with the understanding that we are giving God permission, and then some may read it as asking God to arise.
However, when you read the scripture in the context, we see that when Moses and the children of Israel were in the wilderness and God's glory dwelt behind the curtain and Moses didn't know what to do next, he would watch the cloud and when the cloud would lift up off the holy place, the people would begin to move a cry would go out through the camp God is arising! God is rising! The cloud is moving! Let’s go! (Exodus 40:30-38)
God isn't saying "let me arise." He is saying, "I am arising! Can you see it? Will you move when I move? Will you allow Me to arise in you? If you are aware of My arising and move when I move you will see the manifestation of what your heart has longed for. Then you will align yourself with what I'm doing and you won't keep asking me to bless what you're doing. You will see and agree with me and take part in what I'm doing. When we let God arise mountainous strongholds that look like they can't be broken crumble. When we let God arise obstacles in your life God begin to move!
When Israel was in the wilderness there followed God’s glory cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night as they journeyed to the promise land. As long as followed God, they were blessed. When they tried to go their own way, they ran into trouble. We in the New Testament era can likewise experience great blessings by following God.
“(17) And it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God led them not through the way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, Lest peradventure the people repent when they see war, and they return to Egypt: (18) but God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt. … (21) And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: (22) he took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.” −Exodus 13:17-22 (AKJV)
You see, it was not simply a cloud, but rather it was the Lord going ahead of them in a pillar of cloud and fire. When that pillar of God was moving, it meant that God was moving, guiding them on their way.
There is a cry from heaven, God is rising! God is rising! He is rising over your house! He is rising over your church! He is rising over our communities, cities and nations! Wickedness is melting like wax! Strongholds are being broken! Deliverance is available to all who desire it! Will you be aware of God's arising? Will you move with Him? Will you step out and let God be God?
As we follow where God leads us, we may encounter some trials and struggles, but that's part of the plan! God uses those to shape and mold us into the people He desires for us to become… but most importantly, so His glory can be revealed to the world!
Following where God leads keeps us from following human impulses and promptings. Following where God leads we will be shielded from our enemies. Sometimes God will move quickly in your life, family, or church. Other times, He will be still, but know that God is always working on your behalf.
