Prayer To Pray Over Your Food
2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching … so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” Through His Word, God provides help and instruction so that we can be thoroughly equipped to live the victory Jesus died and rose for. Sometimes He even provides help we didn't even know we needed. Recently, every time I eat, the Holy Spirit has been reminding me to pray over my food. Previously I would bless my food because that is what I was taught to do, but I would forget to do it most of the time. It was not a regular thing I did. Since the Holy Spirit kept reminding me, I realized that God was showing something about blessing my food.
As I sought God on the matter, He began to show me the importance of asking Him to bless my food and drink, but not out of ritual or duty, but out of faith. Many people are taught to say a short prayer, commonly known as "saying grace," over their food. Something like "God is great, and God is good, and we thank him for our food" or "Bless this food and the people who prepared it." I’m not saying that there is anything wrong with doing this if it is done in faith, and if we understand why we are doing it. However, many people do it with no understanding of why and because it is what good Christian people do. This was one point the Holy Spirit was making to me.
Another point the Holy Spirit wanted me to grasp is the power of declaring the promises of God as I eat and drink. Again, not out of ritual, but out of faith. He reminded me that His Word declares “For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us” (2 Corinthians 1:20). And He said to begin to declare His promises (put the Word in my mouth) over my food and drink in faith. There are thousands of promises of God in the Bible. His Word is truth, and whatever he says will come to fruition.
One promise you can pray is found in Exodus 23:25 where God says, “So you shall serve the Lord your God, and He will bless your bread and your water. And I will take sickness away from the midst of you.” What a great promise this is! Another great promise to pray over your food is Mark 16:18, "and if you eat anything deadly, it shall not hurt you." Jeremiah 33:6 is another, "Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth." There are thousands of promises of God in the Bible. His Word is truth, and whatever He says will come to fruition.
In Jeremiah 1:12, God says that He watches over His word to perform it. God’s Word is life and brings health to your flesh (Proverbs 4:22). When we put God’s Word in our mouth and pray over what we take into our bodies, we are enforcing God’s victory over sickness and infirmity. Also, Psalm 103:20 tells us that angels heed "the voice of His word." Who gives voice to God's Word? We do. Whenever we declare God’s promises, whether in prayer, whether praying over our food, or whether in conversation, we are giving voice to His Word, and angels will respond. When you say, "Father God, I thank You for health and healing and the abundance of peace and truth," God hears your faith and sends health, healing, and the abundance of peace and truth into your life. Finally, Leviticus 17:11 states that the life of the flesh is in the blood, but there is a higher source of life, and that is your born-again Spirit (the Spirit of God in you). James 2:26 says, "As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead."
Beloved, I encourage you to pray God's Word over your food. Stand in faith that the blessing of the Lord is upon it. That no deadly thing—the pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers used on crops, or the radiation and genetic altering of food that take place today with our food will harm you. And as you do, you are going to get the results of God's divine healing power as you put the Word of God in your mouth. Here is a scriptural prayer that you can pray over your food and drink, and even your prescription meds:
Father God, thank You for Your wonderful promises and for meeting my every need. I ask You to bless my food and water and remove sickness and infirmity from the midst of me according to Your Word. I thank You for the promise that if I eat or drink any deadly thing, it shall by no means hurt me. I praise You that the same Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead dwells in me and quickens my mortal body. I have life and divine health because Christ lives in me, and the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ makes me free from the law of sin, death, sickness, and disease. Father, I thank You that the Spirit of Life flows into every cell, every joint, every organ, and every system of my body, renewing, restoring, regenerating, and purging everything that You did not plant in me from me. In Jesus' mighty name, I pray. Amen. Amen. Amen.

For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Keep your eyes trained on the Word. Do not look at circumstances.

1 Peter 1:23 AMP – “23 for you have been born again [that is, reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, and set apart for His purpose] not of seed which is perishable but [from that which is] imperishable and immortal, that is, through the living and everlasting word of God.”
1 Thessalonians 2:13 NKJV – For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe.
