In Jeremiah 23:29 God asks the question: “Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” God compares His Word to fire and to a hammer. Fire consumes, purifies, exposes, and spreads. When the Word of God gets into a person, it confronts what is false, burns away what does not belong, and brings light into dark places. Then God says His Word is like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces. A hammer strikes what is hard until it breaks. Some situations are like rocks. They are stubborn, resistant, longstanding, and difficult to move. Fear can become a rock. Unbelief can become a rock. Generational patterns can become a rock. Hardened hearts can become a rock. Circumstances can look so fixed that they seem impossible to change. But God says, My Word is a hammer. No matter what situation you are facing, swing your hammer. Whether the battle is spiritual, physical, emotional, financial, or in your family, find the Word of God that speaks to it and swing your hammer. Sometimes one strike does not break the rock. Strike again and keep striking until it breaks
