What happens when we die? Is hell real? Is heaven real? Does life continue after death? Different teachings offer different answers to these questions. You may have heard stories of people who say they died and went to heaven or hell, but you didn’t believe them.
There are several beliefs, teachings, and opinions concerning heaven and hell and whether there is life after death. However, the only opinion that matters is the Creator God’s. God says in His Word that life continues after death. I want to share with you a few experiences I and others have had about what happens when we die.
The first experience I want to share happened to me. When I was in my late teens, I was raped. The rapist covered my mouth and nose with his hands during the act until I stopped breathing. I read that between 30–180 seconds of oxygen deprivation, a person can lose consciousness. At the one-minute mark, brain cells begin dying, and at five minutes, death becomes imminent. At 10 minutes, even if the brain remains alive, a coma and lasting brain damage are almost inevitable, and at 15 minutes, survival becomes nearly impossible.
When I read that, I realized what an amazing miracle I had experienced. I don’t know how long it was, but I do know that my spirit left my body, and I began rising further and further upwards. I do know that I was able to look down and see the rapist on top of my body doing his thing. I felt no pain or what he was doing, but I could clearly see it, yet I felt an unexplainable peace. Serene is the only word I know to describe it. I could see and I could hear. Finally, after some time, my attacker removed his hand. I saw him shake me a few times and heard him yell at me to get up, and I returned to my body.
My attacker did not leave me there. He drove me to a nearby church and dropped me off. I sat there on those church steps, crying and praying and trying to wrap my mind around what had just happened. I can't tell you that I lived a sinless life at the time. Although I do my best to honor God with my life, I cannot tell you that I am living a sinless life now. I point this out because I want you to know that salvation does not depend on your good deeds. The difference that day was that I had accepted the sacrifice that Jesus has made for me on the Cross earlier in life. This is what determines where you will spend eternity. I had placed my faith in Jesus Christ and given my life to the Lord, so I believe, since I was rising and felt such an unexplainable peace, I was on my way to be with the Lord. It wasn't time yet.
I left this body, but I did not see hell or heaven on that day. A loving God was merciful and allowed me to experience this and live because He has a purpose for my life. The primary thing I learned from that experience is that physical death is only the end of life on earth, our spirit does live on, it does not die. Ever since this experience, I have felt compelled to let others know that life does indeed go on after death. I am so grateful to God that He allowed me to stay and share this experience with you and others. Have you chosen to believe in Jesus Christ yet?
We make the choice to go to heaven or hell!
The next story is about a situation that I witnessed while working at a dialysis clinic. It was the most horrifying thing I have ever seen. One day, one of the patients died on the floor while undergoing treatment. He was a very mean and bitter man who blamed God and everyone else for the fact that he was paralyzed and on dialysis. No matter how nice the dialysis technicians and nurses were to him, he would cuss at them and treat them meanly. I asked one of the nurses how he became paralyzed. She told me that he broke into someone’s home, and they shot him, yet he blamed God and everyone else for his situation. I would sit in my office and watch him spill all those venomous words at the techs and other patients as he was being treated. His attack was primarily regarding God and their faith in God.
His dialysis treatment was four hours a day, three days a week. Mondays were always hard for him because he would drink all weekend. So, on Monday, when he came back to the clinic, he would be full of toxic fluids. This day was a Monday. Like always, the technicians proceeded to give him his treatment, and he was his usual mean self. Something happened during his treatment, and he kept losing consciousness. The nurses worked and brought him back three (3) times before he was finally pronounced dead. Clearly, our loving and merciful God was trying to give him a chance to live eternally in heaven.
Each time this young man went out, he would come back with a horrifying look on his face, screaming, "Don’t let them take me! Don’t let them take me! I don’t want to go!" I will never forget the look of fright on his face. Whoever and whatever he saw, he was frightened, and everyone could see it. There were two Christian techs working on him who kept trying to get him to call on the name of Jesus, but he would not do it. The third time he came back, as one of the nurses said to him, "Call on the name of Jesus", the young man cussed and said, "F--- your Jesus. I don’t want anything to do with your God". Those were his last words. He died with the most horrifying look on his face.
I hate to say it, but because he rejected Christ with his dying words, I do not expect to see him in heaven. I still get chills when I think of this day. It is partly the reason I pray so hard for the lost. I don't want anyone to experience what I believe this young man experienced.
I shared the story with a group of Christians and was asked by a minister if this man was half-delusional or in his correct frame of mind when he was going in and out. The question surprised me, especially coming from someone who said he was an evangelist. I will say this: from what I saw of him each week, he was mean and bitter, but he appeared to be in his right mind. That day, whatever he saw when he went out frightened him. The Bible says in Psalm 10:4 that "the wicked one, in the pride of his countenance, will not seek, inquire for, and yearn for God; all his thoughts are that there is no God.
The Will Of God Is That No Man Perish! (2 Peter 3:9)
The Holy Spirit is an intercessor who is always making intercession for us before God. Jesus Christ is an intercessor who ever lives to make intercession for us also. Intercession is prayer that pleads with God for your needs and the needs of others. The entire Bible contains hidden treasures from the Lord, and only He, the One Who wrote it can show us where they are. Many of us are still here today because of God's intercessors. All of us are saved because of God's intercessors. I thank God for His intercessors and that He allows me to intercede on behalf of others. From the time I learned about the power of Christ to change people, I prayed for Him to set my mother and father free, and He did. My next story is the story of my mother and father.
I watched my mother die in 2010. I watched her go in and out also, but this experience was like night and day from this young man. There was peace. She was at rest and smiling. Each time she came back, I would see a tear come down her face. She looked as if she was talking to someone, but in the direction, she was speaking, no one was there. I believe she was either speaking to an angel or to God. I heard her ask if they could wait just a few minutes until her other daughter came. All of us were there except my youngest sister, who was at work and could not leave her patient alone. She had to wait until someone came to relieve her at work. A few minutes after my sister arrived, she and my mother hugged. My mom looked in the direction of where no visible person was again and said, "Ok, I am ready," and she breathed her last breath. My mother accepted the Lord years ago. She was not perfect either, but she did her best to live a life for God after she accepted the Lord.
I also prayed for my dad to be saved and saw him just before he left Earth. My dad was much like the young man I spoke of earlier; he was very mean and bitter. I prayed for years for God to save my dad. Not long before he died, he accepted Christ. I lived in Georgia at the time and got a phone call from my uncle that the doctors said my dad would not make it through the week. My kids and I hit the road to drive down to Miami. I prayed all the way down, asking God to let me say goodbye to my dad.
When I arrived at the hospital, my dad smiled and said, "Hey, what are you doing here?" I replied, "I came to see you. Why didn’t you tell me that you were so sick?" As he was speaking, God allowed me to see in the spirit realm, and I could see a ring of light surrounding my dad. He kept smiling and said, "I know they told you I am dying but I want you to know that I am not dying. I am going home to be with Jesus." Oh, my goodness, I am telling you, those were the sweetest words I have ever heard in my life. It was hard to maintain my composure because I wanted to shout right then and there. I am so grateful to God for allowing me to know that He was taking my dad home to be with Him. These words confirmed to me that God is indeed faithful and does answer prayer! Halleluiah! He is indeed faithful. He had answered my prayer. This was another peaceful death!
I am not sharing any of this to frighten you. I am sharing because even though I may not know you, I love you with the love of Christ and God loves you too. It may sound a little strange to hear a person you do not know say they love you. But it’s true. My desire for you is the same as God’s, that you spend eternity with Him. One of the reasons God did not take me home years ago was so that I can tell you that He is real. Jesus loves you too. It doesn’t matter what you have heard or done. All that matters is that you believe that He is real. That He died on the cross in your place, for your sin, past, present and future and in three days He rose from the dead that you might be saved and have eternal life.
God Wants To Bless You
A few years ago, I dreamed I was in heaven walking with a man whom I believe was the Lord Jesus. I never saw His face, but I could see his body and he was holding my hand. We went through several areas, and I saw several things. I cannot remember all the details yet, but I do remember very clearly seeing several very large rooms that were filled wall to wall with gifts. We got to one room and I could see that names were on the gifts, some of the names I knew.
I said, "What is this place?" The man replied, "These are gifts for the people on earth." I tried to run and get some of them so I could take them back to the people I knew. He shouted, "No! They have to come and get their own." Then he told me to tell them about the room, He told me to tell them what I had seen. Tell them how much He loves them and wants to bless them. I want you to know I did exactly that. The next time I went to church, I gave a testimony about the dream. I remember being so excited when I told the congregation my testimony. Yet, as I was telling them, I could clearly see in their eyes that they did not believe me. I got the same response I had gotten when I told the testimony of the angels singing to me during the night when I was enduring a very hard trial.
I was so saddened because of the unbelief. I heard Jesus say, "Yes, it is very sad, but keep speaking." One person believed what I told them and exercised their faith, and that family began to receive unbelievable miracles. There is so much I want to say regarding that dream, but I can’t right now. I pray that God opens the eyes of your understanding and I will say what Jesus said in Matthew 9:29, according to your faith be it unto you.
God Wants To Heal You
I was on the intercessory team at my church, and we had gotten a request to pray for a man whom the doctors did not expect to make it through the night. We were all gathered praying in the Spirit, and suddenly I had a vision of a man whom I believe was the Lord Jesus Christ. I did not see his face, but He appeared to be in spirit form not human, standing at the bedside of a man who was in a hospital hooked up to tubes and a breathing machine. The spirit man took his hand and starting at the sick man's head, and moved it down over his body and the man sat up.
After we prayed, I told the group what I had seen and described the man I saw in the bed. We all rejoiced and believed the vision was from God, confirming the man we had been praying for was healed, and he would live. A couple of days later, our pastor told us that indeed the man was up, talking and feeling better, and his prognosis had amazed the doctors. They are calling it a miracle, he said.
Beloved, God is alive and well and moves in miraculous ways on behalf of His children. Will you give Him a chance to move on your behalf? No one other than God can give you eternal life. Believing that Jesus existed or that he was a great man or prophet WILL NOT KEEP YOU OUT OF HELL or get you into Heaven. No one other than God can heal your body or help you in your time of need. No other God! There is no other way to get to heaven except by believing and putting your faith in the sacrifice Christ made on the Cross to pay the penalty for man's sins and confessing with your mouth that you believe. Don't let Satan steal eternity from you, and don't you give it up either. There are two possible eternities; one spent with the Lord or total separation from God in hell.
The Apostle John talked about Judgment in Revelation: "I saw a Great White Throne and the One Enthroned. Nothing could stand before or against the Presence, nothing in Heaven, nothing on earth. And then I saw all the dead, great and small, standing there—before the Throne! And books were opened. Then another book was opened: the Book of Life. The dead were judged by what was written in the books; by the way they had lived. Sea released its dead, Death and Hell turned in their dead. Each man and woman was judged by the way he or she had lived. Then Death and Hell were hurled into Lake Fire. This is the second death—Lake Fire. Anyone whose name was not found inscribed in the Book of Life was hurled into Lake Fire." Revelation 20:13-15 (The Message)
The scripture says anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire for eternity!
In Luke 16:22-31 Jesus tells the story of a man who died and did not go to heaven and how he pleaded with Abraham to allow someone on earth to go and tell his loved ones about hell so that they don't follow him there. Here is the story:
“Then he died, this poor man, and was taken up by the angels to the lap of Abraham. The rich man also died and was buried. In hell and in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham in the distance and Lazarus in his lap. He called out, 'Father Abraham, mercy! Have mercy! Send Lazarus to dip his finger in water to cool my tongue. I'm in agony in this fire.' But Abraham said, 'Child, remember that in your lifetime you got the good things and Lazarus the bad things. It's not like that here. Here he's consoled and you're tormented. Besides, in all these matters there is a huge chasm set between us so that no one can go from us to you even if he wanted to, nor can anyone cross over from you to us.'
The rich man said, 'Then let me ask you, Father: Send him to the house of my father where I have five brothers, so he can tell them the score and warn them, so they won't end up here in this place of torment.' Abraham answered, 'They have Moses and the Prophets to tell them the score. Let them listen to them.' I know, Father Abraham,' he said, 'but they're not listening. If someone came back to them from the dead, they would change their ways.' "Abraham replied, 'If they won't listen to Moses and the Prophets, they're not going to be convinced by someone who rises from the dead.'” - Luke 16:22-31 (The Message)
You might say this is all sensationalism, but think about it. Concerning my testimony, what is there for me to gain? This website is not here for sensationalism or for my glory or for money. It exists because Jesus loves you and I want to meet you one day in heaven. There is no second chance after your last breath here on earth.
So let me ask you...
Do you recognize that you are a sinner? Do you believe in what Christ has done at the Cross for you? Are you ready to receive salvation? If so, then just speak to God from your heart and let Him know that you believe. God is not so concerned with your words as He is with the attitude and sincerity of your heart, whether you truly believe that you are separated from Him because of sin. He knows if you believe on Jesus Christ, but you must confess it... for this is what the Word of God says...
"But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:8-10 (KJV)
.. so you can literally say something out of your mouth like:
God, I believe on Jesus Christ. I want to be born again. Please save me.
God, I am a sinner. I believe You sent Jesus Christ to the cross for my sin. I want to be saved. I put my faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. Amen.
If you repented and prayed this prayer, welcome to the family. I am so glad that you made the decision to trust in Jesus. I would love to hear from you. Submit a comment below or send me an email.
It is my prayer right now that you see God's supernatural power at work in your life. It is important that you attend a bible believing church so that you can grow more in your new life in Christ.
God Bless you,
